Biography:
A one-man side project of Katatonia guitarist Anders Nyström (aka Blackheim), Sweden`s Diabolical Masquerade released a string of symphonic and misanthropic black metal albums, starting with 1995`s imaginatively titled Ravendusk in My Heart. The similarly inspired and ill-disposed The Phantom Lodge followed a couple years later, and fan favorite Nightwork in 1998, but with 2001`s much delayed Death`s Design, Nyström`s grand schemes arguably achieved their creative climax, this being a full-fledged horror-movie soundtrack. Unfortunately, the movie in question was never released and Diabolical Masquerade never made it to a musical sequel, now widely reported to be in fact defunct. Finally, it`s worth noting that famed producer, musician, and Nyström colleague Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Pan-Thy-Monium, etc.) was rumored to be a silent contributor to some of the above works.
